Demand from tenants for new rental properties has never been greater and whilst renting could provide greater flexibility than owning a property, it still takes time and money to find the right place and to move in. We believe it is worth putting some careful thought into finding a new rental property to call home and getting yourself prepared. Here are a few tips to get yourself prepared to rent and give you a chance of being successful with your search :

  1. Get financially prepared

Much like buying a home, it is really important to know the costs and payments involved in renting before you even start your search.

  2. Know your responsibilities

Tenants and landlords each have rights, as well as legal responsibilities to one another, it is crucial to understand what they are, and what to expect.

  3. Start budgeting

If you havent looked into your finances, it is a really important step, landlords and lettings agents often select tenants based on credit checks and an element of these checks will look at your affordability.

  4. Finding somewhere

First establish a criteria and register for alerts from local agents, and Rightmove - who will notify you should anything in your criteria come to market. When a property that suits you does become available you will have the greatest chance of success by acting FAST. Our advice is arrange a viewing as soon as you can and make a decision equally as FAST if possible.
